My name is Laurel Hartmann and I am thrilled to be teaching second grade at Nixon School again this year! Before starting at Nixon, I spent three years teaching first grade in Rockaway Borough. Before that, I received a BA in Elementary Education, a BA in American Studies, an MST in Collaborative Teaching and certificates as a Teacher of Reading and Teacher of Special Education from Rowan University.
I grew up in Cranford, NJ and currently live in Randolph, NJ. In my free time I love to hike, swim, read, and spend time with my friends and family. I also love animals!
My goal for the year is to help your child love learning. I am a firm believer in hands-on, experienced based learning as well as collaboration and team work.. I will focus on giving your child the tools he or she needs to improve reading, writing, and math skills.
Parent-teacher communication is extremely important to me. Part of knowing your child as a whole, is knowing his or her parent(s) or guardian(s). This helps your child to see us as a team that supports him or her! Please don't hesitate to call or email me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions that you feel will help me connect with your child!
